Christmas, Quietly

Christmas, Quietly

Christmas is quietly getting closer.

When it comes to bespoke jewellery, it's worth thinking a little ahead. There are designs to develop, stones to source and pieces to make. It's a process that takes time, particularly when you're creating something individual.

I've been thinking about Christmas commissions and the different reasons people come to us to have jewellery made.

Sometimes it's a particular stone someone has in mind, or a design they've been considering for a while. Other times, it's an existing piece of jewellery that isn't being worn and could be made into something new.

I particularly enjoy working with older pieces. There might be a ring that's been passed down through the family, or a collection of stones from jewellery that no longer suits the person wearing it. Often there is plenty to work with, and it's interesting to see what we can do while keeping something of the original piece.

For new designs, there are lots of things to consider too. The choice of stones, the setting, the proportions and how the piece will be worn. These are all details we work through together before anything is made.

With Christmas in mind, it's good to allow enough time for these conversations, as well as the making itself. And although December still feels some way off, the weeks do tend to go rather quickly.

If you've been thinking about a special piece for a gift, ideas for something new or reworking old jewellery pieces, now is a good time to get in touch.

Christmas bespoke commissions are open.
