The Places That Feed Me

Athens → Geneva

Different environments give me creatively, and I need both.

Athens last week was chaotic, wild, busy, intense, wonderful, feeding, inspiring and motivating. I get a lot out of that city, every time. Travelling there several times a year for the past ten years, I visit clients, collaborate with designers, oversee work with my makers, and do some stone sourcing. It is an energetic place that gives.

I find my own name to be stronger in that city.

Do you know that feeling, when you feel fully ‘you’ in a place, where the energy the environment gives off connects with you?

Then, after five days, I'm totally ready to come home to sleepy, quiet, gorgeously organised Geneva, where I get back to a fresh life close to nature and the sounds of the birds. I couldn't do one without the other.

Athens is my injection of “food” inspiration, people, shops, movement and quick motivated work. But then I need my “slow”, to digest it, make reflective decisions and go on my own path.

This time though, it was a quick turnaround, as I went directly back to the airport a few days later: Geneva → Vienna (next letter)
